So a few days ago, I was invited to volunteer at this year's California Extreme expo at The Hyatt Regency Santa Clara near San Jose, California. Since the convention was supposed to be a mecca of sorts for retro video games and whatnot, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to spend a whole day doing nothing but playing old video games and pinball tables. What follows are a series of photos I shot over the next two days.
Tron Legacy, one of my favorite tables at the Expo.
Detail of the Tron Legacy playfield.
Among some of the arcade games they showcased was T-Mek, which I vaguely remember playing at a Q-Zar Laser Tag Arena back when I was in elementary school. The cabinets shown here are a rare stand-up variant.
FunHouse, a classic Williams machine featuring the voice of Ed Boon of Mortal Kombat fame.
Among some of the more popular cabinets at CAX was The Grid, one of Midway's last arcade games.
Another Google Glass sighting. God i keep seeing these things everywhere.
A Panic Park machine.
I was quite suprised that they had a DDR machine, even more suprised it was a recent version (DDRX3 with 2nd Mix).
Hanging out by the Pool.
